Roadside Station Sakaya Gourmet Information
Here's what to eat Tanada Soba

Soba made from buckwheat flour produced in Kushima City, without using any binding agent. The color of the buckwheat is a little too white to be called "country buckwheat," but the buckwheat is chewy and slightly thick. The ingredients on top of the buckwheat noodles are also spectacularly plentiful, including seasonal vegetable tempura, shiitake mushrooms, bamboo shoots, kamaboko, and slow-cooked chicken meat. The chicken is exquisitely tender and melts in your mouth, and the sweet chicken broth is a perfect match. A la carte 800 yen, set (pictured) 980 yen (tax included).
Buy this one, grass dumplings.

A long-selling hit product handmade daily at the roadside station. At its peak, 1,500 to 2,000 pieces are sold per day. In the remote mountains above the Nichinan Dam, only tender spring sprouts of mugwort are gathered, made into a paste, and stored for a year. When you bite into a rice cake kneaded with this paste, its fresh aroma fills your mouth. The anchovies are also moderately sweet and contain no additives. 390 yen for a package of 3, 650 yen for a package of 5 (tax included)

Sakamoto Terraced Fields
If you want to have fun in the area

Komatsu, the highest peak in Nichinan City. Komatsu, the highest peak in Nichinan City. The impressive scale of the terraced rice fields, totaling approximately 7.2 hectares, and the beautiful appearance of the rectangular rice fields neatly lined up on a stairway, is quite impressive. The fields are filled with clear water drawn in from Komatsuyama in early summer, covered with green in summer, and golden in autumn when the ears of rice are harvested and illuminated by the setting sun. In early spring, the Sakamoto Tanada Festival is held, when the paths along the rice paddies are fantastically illuminated by torches.
