Miyazaki Prefecture's only peach-growing region
Harvest season is filled with sweet aroma.
Located along Route 218 connecting Takachiho and downtown Nobeoka. It stands at the foot of the Tenma Bridge overlooking the Gokase River. The store is home to many specialty products, including peaches, which are the prefecture's largest peach producer, grapes, jiro persimmons, and yams, and during the harvest season, the store is filled to the brim with these products. The store also offers a wide variety of original products such as sweets, jams, and seasonings that make the best use of these products. The mellow-flavored soft-serve ice cream filled with peach juice is very popular, and the handmade lunch boxes, side dishes, and dumplings made by the local women's association are also well received.

Local product: Chiyohime
Kitagata-cho, Nobeoka City, is the only peach-growing area in Miyazaki Prefecture, and from late May to early July, extremely early ripening Chiyohime peaches begin to appear on the market. Because it is an extremely early variety, peaches are usually small, but the Kitagata-produced Chiyohime peaches, which have been cultivated using improved soil and cultivation methods, are characterized by their large size, abundant juice, and low acidity. It is gaining popularity as a brand-name agricultural product.
Best place to buy processed peach products
The soft flesh of peaches tends to be easily damaged, and out-of-spec peaches are a source of concern for farmers. To solve this problem, a variety of processed products using peaches have been developed. The lineup includes a variety of sweets such as tarts, puddings, cream Daifuku, and Uiro (sweet rice cake), all of which are made from peach puree or paste. Jams and liqueurs are also available, all of which have a luxurious flavor with the aroma of ripe peaches. Peach Daifuku, available only at the roadside station, is also very popular.
