Ipponmatsu Park
This is the nearest park to enjoy hanami (cherry blossom viewing). A giant stone windmill spins in the park.
Ipponmatsu Park is recommended during cherry blossom season. It is located on a small hill 7 minutes from Michi no Eki Mizuibe Plaza. About 1,000 cherry trees are planted in the park, which offers a cherry blossom tunnel and a view of cherry blossoms and a pond. The symbol of the park, the "Stone Kazaguruma," consists of three units representing a parent and child, all made of red granite from Spain. Although the stone blades are huge, they turn in the wind just enough to sway the ears of silver grass. All three windmills face different directions, and the two in the center and the one on the left are said to be the main ones that usually rotate. The rightmost windmill turns only before typhoons. When the right side turns, it is said to indicate that the weather is about to break. The park also has a store selling local products.

The site area is about 12 times the size of Tokyo Dome. Ancient mountain castle site built by the Yamato regime.
Located about 10 minutes from MIZUBEN PLAZA KAMOTO Roadside Station, this historical park is a restored version of Marichi Castle, an ancient mountain castle, which was one of the castles built by the Yamato regime in western Japan in preparation for the invasion of the Tang Dynasty and the Silla Dynasty after the great defeat at the Battle of Hakuson-ko in 663. It is considered to be a support base for protecting the Dazaifu Government Office or its predecessor. It is 3.5 km long in circumference and 55 ha in area, about 12 times the size of the Tokyo Dome. The remains of 72 buildings, including an octagonal building, a reservoir, and earthen mounds were discovered one after another, and some of them have been restored in the park. The castle is called "Joseon-style mountain fortress" as it was described in a national book, and is a designated national historic site. It is managed as a branch of the Kumamoto Prefectural Museum of Decorative Tombs.

Kakishibu-nuri Raimin Uchiwa, a persimmon tannin lacquered fan that has lasted for over 100 years, is still carried on by a single store.
The Raimin district of the former Shikamoto Town, where the roadside station is located, once had a flourishing industry of "Raimin Uchiwa" (Japanese fan). It is said that this industry began about 400 years ago when a Buddhist priest from Shikoku introduced the Marugame fan making technique to the area. Originally, Kaimin was blessed with abundant Japanese paper and bamboo, so fan making flourished. Applying persimmon tannin to washi paper makes it strong and long-lasting. The persimmon tannin also has the effect of repelling insects. Raimin-uchiwa were popular as a good-luck charm for prosperous business, saying "the people will come," and were regarded as one of the three major uchiwa production centers, following Kyoto and Marugame. Today, as lifestyles have changed and the number of craftsmen has dwindled, Kurikawa Shoten is the only one who carries on the craftsmanship. Why not stop by? If your timing is right, you can observe the fan making process.

If you want to buy melons, go to this roadside station! A variety of sweet melons with a sugar content of 14 degrees or higher!
Just four minutes away from Michi no Eki Suiben Plaza Kamoto is a roadside station in the melon-growing town of Nanaki.
