Roadside Station Osumi Yagoro Legend Village

Index
Like Yagoro-Don of the Giants.
The scale of this roadside station is also vast!
Along Route 269, near the entrance to the station, stands a huge 15-meter-tall statue. This is the legendary giant of the town, Yagoro Osumi. The details of the legend will be described later, but the roadside station's site is unparalleled in the country, covering an area of approximately 20 hectares. The site is dotted with a product center, a multipurpose plaza, playground equipment, bathing facilities, and restaurants. There is also a "forest adventure" facility. In addition to agricultural products, the produce center has a Kurobuta butcher store run by a livestock farmer who also operates a restaurant on the premises, and its meat and processed meats are very popular. The local brand "Yagoro Watermelon" is ranked "Tokusweet" with a sugar content of 11 degrees or higher. The golden label is a landmark.

Here's what to eat Yagoro Pork

Yagoro Pork is raised freely in the rich natural environment of the Osumi Peninsula. The Yagoro Tei, a ranch-direct restaurant located at the station, is the place where you can taste all the deliciousness of this brand of pork. Yagoro Pork Kurobuta," which has been raised since the establishment of the ranch, is of course available, but the "Yagoro Pork OX," which is a crossbreed of Kurobuta and Shirobuta, is the one that is currently attracting attention. It is rich in oleic acid, a much talked-about flavor component, and its crisp flavor is gaining popularity, especially among women. The steak is especially popular because the flavor of the meat can be tasted straight from the meat. The rich sweetness of the meat overflows with each bite. Yagoro Pork OX Top Loin Steak is priced at 1,980 yen (tax included). Try it with wasabi soy sauce, which enhances the flavor of the meat.

Yagoro-no-yu
I'm proud of this one too.

Yagoro no Yu" is a hot-spring bath facility located a little further back from the farmers' market. The bathhouse is a simple structure with a cozy bathtub and sauna, but what is noteworthy is the hot water. When the bathwater is poured into the bathtub, it is passed through an ore called togol warmite, which changes the composition of the water to be similar to that of natural hot spring water, and is said to accelerate metabolism, moisturize, and retain heat. Experience the soft and moist feeling of the bath.
Yagoro Don Festival
If you want to have fun in the area

It is one of the three major festivals in Kagoshima Prefecture, held annually on November 3, and has a history of about 900 years. Yagoro was the leader of the Hayato tribe who resisted the imperial court during the Asuka period (710-794), and there is a theory that the festival originated as a memorial service for the war dead of the Hayato tribe. On the day of the festival, the ritual begins at 1:00 a.m. at Iwakawa Hachiman Shrine, and during the day, a 4.85 meter tall "Yagoro-Don" parades through the shrine, which is a sight to behold: dressed in a 25-tan plum-dyed kimono, with a 4.24 meter tall sword and 2.85 meter small sword at his waist and a 3.81 meter-long spear in his hand. The highlight of the festival is the walk through the torii (shrine gate) and then over the Iwakawa viaduct, known as the "Yagorodon Ina Bauer" (Yagorodon Ina Bauer).
