The best place to buy Kawauchi Kamaboko

One of Hirado's specialties is "Kawauchi Kamaboko," which is "Subomaki Kamaboko. It is a paste made from pollock, sea eel, sardines, horse mackerel, and other fish paste, wrapped in a straw. It has been made since the Edo period (1603-1868) and used to be wrapped in a straw called "Subo. When the straws are removed one by one, the surface reveals jagged fish paste. It has a nice elasticity and smooth texture. You will want to eat it whole rather than cut it into pieces. It also goes well with beer. Prices vary depending on the manufacturer and size.
