Glover Garden

Scenic location is also an attraction A wide variety of tourist attractions

This is a classic sightseeing spot in Nagasaki City! The park was built by relocating buildings from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji period, and includes the residence of Scottish trader Thomas Blake Glover, three nationally designated important cultural properties, and other valuable Western-style architecture. The garden store, open-air café, and other activities are also available. In addition to the panoramic view of Nagasaki, visitors can feel the exotic atmosphere of Nagasaki from the stone pavement and stone steps that retain the atmosphere of the foreign settlement era. Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum

The threat of war that must not be forgotten The preciousness of peace that can be realized by knowing

The Nagasaki Peace Memorial Museum was built in Nagasaki, the site of the atomic bombing, in the hope of lasting peace in the world. The museum exhibits in an easy-to-understand manner the devastation caused by radiation exposure, the process that led to the atomic bombings, the history of nuclear weapons development, and the state of Nagasaki from the time of exposure to the present day. By confronting the sad history that Japan faced in the past, visitors will have an opportunity to reconsider true peace and happiness in the present. The museum also has a library with a video corner. (Photo courtesy of Nagasaki Prefectural Tourism Federation)

Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown

Not Just Champon and Sara Udon! Nagasaki's gourmet food and souvenirs are all here in Chinatown

The brightly colored Chinese gates standing on all four sides of the street are landmarks. Shinchi Chinatown was created in the middle of the Edo period (1603-1867) by reclaiming the sea to build warehouses for trade goods from China. About 40 stores selling Chinese food, Chinese sweets, Chinese sundries, etc. line the 250-meter-long crossroads, including famous restaurants serving Nagasaki's famous chanpon and sara udon noodles. In winter, the street is decorated with Chinese lanterns, creating a fantastic exotic atmosphere during the Lantern Festival. (Photo courtesy of the Nagasaki Prefectural Tourism Federation)

Nagasaki Kameyama Shachu Memorial Hall

I would like to wash Japan once again. Memorial Hall for the memory of Ryoma Sakamoto's great ambition

In 1865, Ryoma Sakamoto and his comrades opened Japan's first trading company, Kameyama Shachu, in Kameyama. The Satsuma clan and the Ozone family, a wealthy merchant in Nagasaki, provided financial support. Kameyama Shachu" also served as a political organization, with the aim of overthrowing the Shogunate. It traded firearms with the Glover Trading Company, wholesaled weapons to the clan, transported supplies, and provided nautical training. It is also well known that he worked for the conclusion of the Satcho alliance. This memorial hall has restored the dilapidated building to its original condition and is open to the public. A replica of Ryoma's boots, a pistol, copies of his letters, photos of Kameyama Shachu samurai, and other items related to him are on display, attracting Ryoma fans from all over Japan. Nagasaki City Dinosaur Museum

A 67-million-year-old Tyrannosaurus is one of the oldest, about 30 years old?

The area around the Nomoizaki district, south of Nagasaki City, contains strata from the late Cretaceous period, approximately 500 million years ago, and fossils of theropod, armored dragon, and ornithopod dinosaurs, as well as turtle and pterosaur fossils, have been discovered. The museum exhibits dinosaur fossils found in the prefecture, as well as skeletal replicas and whole skeletal specimens. In particular, the replica of the entire skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus is the only one of its kind in Japan. In the open laboratory, visitors can observe up-close and personal fossil research in action, including a laboratory equipped with an X-ray CT and scanner, which are rare among natural history museums in Japan, and a cleaning room where fossils are scraped from rocks.
