Ariake Nori (laver), a local specialty

The Ariake Sea is said to have the largest tidal range in Japan. The Ariake Sea has the most favorable conditions for seaweed cultivation, and the coastal areas of Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, and Kumamoto produce 40% of the nation's seaweed. Of these, Saga's laver competes for first and second place in the nation. Ariake laver and its processed products are available at "Roadside Station Kashima" and "Roadside Station Tara," both with the Ariake Sea in the background.
