The market also offers a wide variety of products from the surrounding area, making it a convenient place to purchase products from Kagoshima Prefecture. On the third Sunday of every month, the "Kiraku Market" is held, offering even better deals on fresh vegetables and other goods. Seafood processors and other vendors also set up stalls. Roadside Station Kiiri Gourmet Information
Sweet corn, a local specialty

Sweet corn is a sweet corn that can be eaten raw. Hokkaido leads the world in production, and in Kyushu, Sugo in Taketa City, Oita Prefecture, is famous. The variety "Gold Rush," also known locally as fruit sweet corn, is in season from the end of May to mid-June, but it is harvested before dawn because high temperatures reduce freshness and sugar content. The best ones have a fresh green outer skin with bushy, voluminous brown whiskers. Freshness comes first, so eat them as soon as possible after purchase!

If you want to have fun in the area

In Kagoshima Prefecture, samurai residences of the Satsuma clan, called "foothills," remain in various parts of the prefecture and are recognized as a "Japanese Heritage" site. Kiiri-shu-roku is one of them. Kiire-jyunroku dates back to the late Heian period (794-1185), when Kiire Castle was built in the area. In the early 15th century during the Muromachi period (1336-1573), Hisatoyo Shimazu defeated the Ijuin family, the lords of the time, and changed the name from "Kiire" to "Kiiri. The lords changed after that, and since Kimotsuki Kaneya moved his residence to the foot of Mount Biwa, the old foot of the mountain was called "Kyu-roku". A waterway using spring water, samurai gates, hedges, and stone walls still remain in the area, as well as the tombs of successive generations of the Kimotsuki family, including the family of Komatsu Taito (Kimotsuki Goro), Koumegafuchi, and Minamikata Shrine.
We are also proud of our hot springs and heated swimming pool.

The core facility of "Roadside Station Kiiri" is the "Kiiri Hachiman Onsen Recreation Center. The separate men's and women's large baths with saunas are simple, with only indoor baths, but the spacious bathtubs take advantage of the abundant hot spring water, and the water poured into the bathtubs in a steady stream is smooth and comfortable. Another facility worth mentioning is the adjacent indoor heated swimming pool. There is a 25-meter pool that can be used by people of all ages for underwater walking, and a leisure pool equipped with a slide, a fountain, and a water slide for toddlers. The waterslide is 53 meters in length and is full of thrills! Of course, you can use the pool all year round, but be sure to bring your swimsuit.
