Roadside Station Nishikie Nishikinosato Gourmet Information
This is the best place to buy local ice cream.

The company is proud of its local ice cream made with oligosaccharide. The ice cream is made from agricultural products grown in the southern part of the Osumi Peninsula, centering on Kinko Town, and there are currently eight varieties, including mango, red sweet potato, mountain chestnut, and so on. They are also gaining popularity as gifts returned by taxpayers. In many cases, processed products made from local agricultural products are made from out-of-spec products that cannot be marketed as-is. However, the ice cream used in this ice cream is made from carefully selected first-class products. Each ice cream is rich in texture and has a perfect balance with milk. The ice cream is 250 yen (tax included).
Let's buy some Kesen Dumplings!

Kesen" is a tree of the genus Cinnamomum, which grows only in warm regions such as Kagoshima and Okinawa. Kesen dumplings are dumplings made of mugwort covered with the leaves of this tree. Ingredients such as glutinous rice flour, sugar, and steamed mugwort are combined and kneaded thoroughly while adding water. Once the dumplings are rolled and covered with the leaves, all that remains is to steam them. Soon, a fresh aroma similar to lemongrass begins to spread from the steamer. The aroma of the leaves is transferred to the dumplings, and the people are relaxed by the aroma. The resulting "Kesen dumplings" are firm and elastic. The sweetness is also moderate. They are a kind of local and herbal confectionery unique to Kagoshima, a southern prefecture. 580 yen for 8 dumplings (tax included).

Kangawa Otaki Park
If you want to have fun in the area

Kaminokawa Great Falls on the Kaminokawa River is 25 m high and 30 m wide, and the water volume is so abundant that even from the observation platform next to the waterfall basin, the droplets of water can be heard. The 68-meter-high "Rainbow Suspension Bridge Otaki Bridge" spans the park, and the view from the bridge is a powerful sight looking down on the falls from above. The park also has playground equipment and a restaurant called "Otaki no Teahouse," which can be enjoyed by the whole family. In summer, the restaurant serves somen-nagashi, a refreshing dish of noodles, and visitors can enjoy the cool taste of the waterfall while watching its majestic appearance. The road leading to Otaki Falls is a narrow mountain road, so walking is the safest option. There is also a narrow "Kotaki" waterfall near the parking lot.
