bungalow

I'm proud of this.

On the hill behind the station are bungalows managed by the station. Currently, only three bungalows are available for use, but the impressive octagonal bungalow has three bunk beds and can accommodate up to eight people. The bungalows are fully equipped with bedding, a unit bath, kitchen, refrigerator, air conditioning, and heating. There is also a wooden deck for barbecues, so families and friends can enjoy themselves without hesitation. Barbecue materials can be procured in the neighborhood.
There are also three lovely cabin-style bungalows (old buildings) on the mountain behind the roadside station. You will need to bring your own bedding and use a shared toilet, but they have showers, air conditioning, and above all, a wonderful view. Early reservations are recommended, especially in summer when the Ohama Beach in front of the house is crowded with bathers.

Suwa Shrine

If you want to have fun in the area

The shrine is unique in Japan in that it has two torii gates lined up on either side. As the name "Suwa" implies, the shrine was originally named after the Suwa Shrine in Nagano, Shinshu, from which it was separated in 1495. There are various theories as to why the two torii gates are lined up in a row, but it is said that they are now a symbol of "matchmaking. The official way to enter the shrine is to enter through the left torii gate and exit through the right one. Originally a shrine for praying for the healthy growth of children, yodarekake (a kind of cloth for weeping) is dedicated to the shrine pavilion. The deities are Takeminakatanomikoto in the upper shrine and Kotoshironushi no Mikoto in the lower shrine.

Ogawa Falls

If you want to have fun in the area

A hot spot that has rapidly gained popularity over the past few years, it has spread by word of mouth on the Internet after being used in a commercial and as the opening scene of a major TV drama. At the end of the 1,200-meter promenade, an emerald green waterfall basin appears, with a maximum drop of 45 m. The waterfall is 60 m wide, but the volume of water is not large. The waterfall is 60 meters wide, but the volume of water is not large, and the subterranean water pours down from the rock surface as a curtain of water, creating a fantastic sight. A promenade has been set up along the stream, and although there are some ups and downs, visitors can enjoy a cool and refreshing stroll.

Dragon Boat Festival

If you want to have fun in the area

Held annually in October since 1988, this event features dragon boats (dragon boats) with a capacity of 10 people, beating drums and competing on eight courses over a section of about 380 meters from the Shioiri Bridge to the Nezumi Ohashi Bridge. The name "Nezumi" is actually derived from the fact that about 450 years ago, Nezumi prospered in trade with China and the Ryukyu Islands, and a town of Chinese merchants was formed there. The 2020 race was cancelled due to the coronavirus, but the 2021 race has not yet been decided.
