The roadside station boasts a view from the foot of the 137-meter-high, 410-meter-long Aoun Bridge, the symbol of Hinokage Town, and was renovated in November 2019 to provide more space for both the product center and restaurant. The deck is also home to a sea of clouds when the weather conditions are right, making for a fantastic sight.

Miyazaki Prefecture is the top producer of kumquat in Japan. Moreover, it accounts for 70% of the nation's production (2020 statistics). It is produced all over the prefecture, and Hinokage Town is no exception. The "Ripe Kumquat Fruit Pickles" are made at a food atelier established by a couple who moved to this town as "Green Hometown Cooperation Volunteers. It is made from carefully selected ripe kumquat pickles marinated in apple cider vinegar. The sweet and sour taste of kumquat spreads in your mouth. It still has a strong fruity flavor rather than a pickle. Enjoy it chilled as a yogurt topping, or add it to sweets made with whipped cream. 650 yen per bag (tax included).

Yuzu Roll Cake

Yuzu Roll Cake" (885 yen) has yuzu peel from Hinokage Town kneaded into the sponge. The moist sponge roll with moderately sweet cream fills the mouth with the refreshing aroma of yuzu. This is a limited edition product available only at Aounbashi Roadside Station.

Takachiho Township, which includes Hinokage Town, has a custom of decorating shimenawa (sacred straw ropes) throughout the year. It is a custom that is typical of the village of the gods, where the myth of the descent of the grandchildren remains. Straw craft shop Takubo in Hinokage Town produces not only shimenawa but also household goods such as good luck charms, baskets, pots and pans, and coasters. It spans the Gokase River and boasts a total length of 410 meters and a height of 137 meters above the water. The name of the bridge was chosen from a public competition. At the time of its construction, it was the largest national highway bridge in Japan and was also called "the best in the East. It was also the first bridge in Japan to use a construction method in which the bridge girders were assembled and joined at the center.
