Roadside Station Uki Gourmet Information
Salted tomatoes, a local delicacy

Salt tomatoes can only be produced in a few districts facing the Shiranui Sea. They are cultivated by taking advantage of reclaimed land and other geological features with high soil salt content to suppress water content to the utmost limit. As a result, the tomatoes are smaller in size than most tomatoes, but the fruits are hard and firm. They are also rich in minerals and have a high sugar content of between 8 and 10 degrees Celsius. It is said to be the originator of the fruit tomato. The harvest season is from November to May, peaking in March. Because of its scarcity, it is also used as a gift as a "luxury tomato.
Eat this Gelato

In addition to the standard strawberry and tangerine flavors, there are also flavors such as spinach and asparagus. The common thread that runs through all of these flavors is their commitment to bringing out the flavor of the ingredients. The aroma and taste of the vegetables are not destroyed, but rather enhanced to create a delicious gelato. The ginger flavor is one of the most popular. The ginger flavor adds a refreshing aroma to the rich sweetness of milk, making for a surprisingly good match. The selection changes seasonally, but there are always more than 10 varieties on display in the showcase. Try different kinds to find your favorite flavor. Single cups from 270 yen and up.
