Among local souvenirs, "Yufuin Spicy Noodles" is recommended as a gift for spicy lovers. The original product of the long-established noodle factory "Yufuin Mian Koubou," it has an addictive, super-hot and deliciously spicy soup with a unique thickening. The spiciness can be adjusted with the spicy sauce, and a beaten egg is added for a milder, fluffier texture. The remaining soup can be made into a porridge by adding rice. If you want to have fun in the area
This sightseeing bus is a restored version of a 1920s British classic car and is compact enough to accommodate nine passengers. The two-tone red and cream-colored bus is said to be the only one of its kind in Japan, available only here in Yufuin and Nagasaki. Recommended for those new to Yufuin, as the buses take passengers from JR Yufuin Station to major sightseeing spots and scenic spots in a single trip. The tour takes about 50 minutes.

If you want to have fun in the area
Another famous feature of Yufuin's tours is the street carriages. The horse-drawn carriage rides past in the peaceful countryside, clacking its hooves. The tour also departs from JR Yufuin Station and returns to the station via Futsan-ji Temple and Unaki-no-Minamisya Shrine. During the tour, the driver will tell you about the history and episodes of Yufuin. The tour takes about 50 minutes. The tour is limited to 10 people and is often fully booked. Make reservations early.

Sagiridai Observatory
If you want to have fun in the area
The observatory on the 680-meter-high "Nagiridai" is famous for its panoramic view of the town of Yufuin. It is located on the way to Beppu City on Prefectural Road No. 11 from the central Yufuin Onsen district. The seasonal scenery around the observatory is also wonderful. Fresh green spring, mountain scenery under the summer sky, golden silver grass in autumn, and snowy winter. Especially in late fall and winter, fantastic morning mist can be seen in the early morning. The observatory is equipped with a store and restrooms.
