【Fukuoka New Year's Eve Outing Info】 Ring in a special New Year with the magical light-up at Dazaifu Kannon Temple!

Fukuoka prefecture (Kyushu)

On the occasion of the year 2025, I would like to recommend a New Year's Eve outing to be held in the ancient capital of Dazaifu, where the lights will be turned on!

Visitors can enjoy "Light-up in Dazaifu, the capital of 2025" in Dazaifu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, featuring "Kanzeonji Temple," a famous temple representing Kyushu, and "Kaitan-in," one of the three most important Buddhist temples in Japan.

Soft lights illuminate the quiet precincts of the temple and the auditorium, creating a fantastic night scene in Dazaifu, and the New Year's bell is rung at the Kaitan-in Temple.

It is also romantic to start the new year in a historic place.

What is Kanzeonji Temple?

It was founded around 670. This famous temple is known for its bell, a national treasure said to be the oldest bell in Japan.
The bell, the sound of which was actually heard by Sugawara Michizane, who was left to Zaifu, has been deposited in the Kyushu National Museum.

What is Kaitan-in?

A place for imparting the precepts to be observed as a Buddhist monk. In the past, it was known as the "Three Precepts of Heaven": Todaiji Temple in Nara, Shimonoyakushiji Temple in Tochigi, and Kanzeonji Temple in Fukuoka (Dazaifu City).

What are the hours for the Kanzeonji Temple light-up 2025-2026?
